2:04 is pretty much my consistent lap time in my 2019 GT350R at VIR Full course configuration. Of course there a many variables, such as weather, tire condition, my focus level, etc... but 2:04 is what I'm calling my consistent lap. My personal best at VIR is 2:02, and my personal best in this car at VIR is 2:03.
VIR is a "risk vs reward" type track in my opinion. Carrying more speed in the uphill esses and challenging the brake zone at the end of the back straight will chop time off the lap, but comes at significantly increased risk/danger. Turn 10 and Oak Tree are also spots that tempt drivers into carrying more speed... and they should.. but a little too much and the consequences get high fast.
I do HPDE, so my risk tolerance is not as high as the racers. I enjoy these high speed tracks though. I work on speed in the turns and braking every outing. The GT350R is quick, but not a straight line speed monster, so improvements in the brake zones and twisties helps me keep the faster cars in sight.
So much fun. These GT350/GT350Rs are really enjoyable track cars.
