This was my first time at Willow Springs Raceway and also my first time on Bridgestone RE-71R tires. Holy shit this track is fast and intimidating. Not to mention bumpy as hell. You can see in the video how much my car was moving around but the suspension handled it amazingly well. My only suspension mods are Ford Performance springs, and Vorshlag camber plates dialed in at -2.7 front, -2.1 rear. I'm running 305/30/19 at all 4 corners on 19x11 forged wheels from Vibe Motorsports. After this track day, I definitely need more camber. I'm thinking -3.2 or more up front and -2.5 in the rear.
This was my best lap that was properly recorded but my Personal Best of the day was a 1:31.379. I only have a rear facing camera for that. My cameras were acting up all day so I don't have a rear cam on this video which is also the one I usually have hooked up to the external mic so the sound isn't that great. You can still hear that Voodoo scream though!
Since this was my first time there I spent most of the day trying to learn the proper lines and corner entry speeds. After looking at my data, I could definitely get it down into the 1:30 range and even lower with more practice on the same car setup. There was so many places where I could pick up time. I was having trouble figuring out the whole Turns 4-6 section all day and trying to gauge how to tackle Turn 9 properly. Those are the 2 areas where I lost the most time.
What an insane track though. Going into Turn 8 at 130MPH and hitting those bumps while taking such a high G force turn is a feeling you can't even describe. The abuse these cars can take is mind boggling.
