Lap time: 1:57.7
Car: Bone stock 2019 Camaro SS 1LE. Purchased new by a friend 1 week ago, about a thousand miles on it.
Track: Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, CVR CW
Date: 12/29/19
Weather: high 50s, great for lap time
Nannies: All computer nannies were turned off (holding down TC button for 5 seconds) and in "Race" mode
Camber: -2.7, -2.1
Tire pressure: 36 hot all around
Tire: Stock Goodyear 285 all around, while stock sizes are 285/305. The reason is these 285 on sale, they are 2016 stocks sold by Tirerack. Almost 1/2 off !! so ran 285 on the back instead to save money !!
Car is good as is, very fast right out of the box. The only thing done were changing out brake fluid (stock pads are decent on this track, it did go soft after a few laps, but came back if you let it cool off for a lap or so) and set proper track alignment for the car. No, we did not go with a factory recommended track alignment setting, it isn't enough. Currently, the camber is right on (-2.7/-2.1), confirmed by a tire pyrometer. Stock Goodyear F1 SC was decently sticky but overheats in 2 laps in this cool weather. I doubt the tire will last more than a lap during summer months.
Note: While the first lap was a 1:57.7, 2nd lap was 1/2 second faster even though driving got sloppier (tire overheated, they don't handle heat well), till I caught another car at very last corner. It would have been low 57s according to predictive on AIM Solo. Anyway, 1:56s is definitely doable....
