Continuing on in the afternoon sessions at Jap Nats 2022 we were on the sprint layout. This was the layout I was most familiar with and the one that most people talk about when talking about QR.
From the morning sessions I had a bit of confidence in the first sector of the track so I was able to push through there and the back to back esses suited the S2000 more so straight away the car was feeling pretty good on this layout. After a couple laps I laid down a 57.5 lap.
Before heading out for the second session I removed the rear sway bar to help with grip through the double esses (it's really time to sort out a proper LSD) and it was instantly apparent it was helping. I had much more grip through these corners and the rear was unloading and stepping out quite as much. Two back to back sessions of 56.x second laps was the proof of this.
Unfortunately I didn't get video of either of these laps as the session 2 video was corrupted and as I was heading out for session 3 I heard the go pro battery die :( A quick charge before the last session and I was able to capture the video seen here. Not my best lap on the layout but my best for the last session.
56.76 was my best lap of the day on the sprint layout and again was good enough for 1st in my class so an overall win for the class and 3rd place NA overall for the event. Not bad at all for my first time. Can only come back next year and try to improve even more!
Thanks for watching.
