The Hankook Ventus TD Z221 C30, also known as Hankook TD (from Track Day), is a semi-slick tire produced since 2005 by Hankook Tire & Technology in their manufacturing plants worldwide. It is a variation of high-performance, dry weather slick tires incorporating grooves in a curved pattern to minimize the risk of aquaplaning by draining water from the contact patch between tire and road. The groves make the tires lose some of the distinctive high-grip regular competition slicks have on dry track surfaces but offer the advantage of being road-legal in most jurisdictions.
The Hankook Ventus TD Z221 C30 tires come in rim sizes from 15 to 18 inches, all in various widths and profile combinations. Their treadwear 80 indicates soft compounds are used for their construction, limiting their lifespan, but that's a worthy tradeoff for sporting settings like road races. Using a set of Hankook Ventus TD equips high-performance racecars with a tighter adherence to the road surface to improve handling, braking, and acceleration even in the rainy season.
