Note: PDR timer/map overlay did not work for this session for some reason. I was able to see the times after loading the track into Cosworth Toolbox and opening the recording. They matched the times recorded with Harry's Lap timer with a 10Hz GPS receiver attached. Finish line in my map file is slightly past the tower but I used it as the start/stop of this video because it is easier to sync up the same spot for the beginning and end. I replaced the .map.gpx file from a backup between sessions which fixed the issue.
NASA Test & Tune event on Friday 1/28/2022. Point bys were optional with passing allowed anywhere. The main thing I noticed from reviewing the video was that it might be possible to carry more speed through the right turn after the launch (turn 5). This was the third hot lap after the out lap.
I was straddling the left curb before turning in to turn 17 (Joe Bone) which is not always possible since there were less cones in place than there sometimes are at other events but I was also being a bit conservative on entry speed towards the wall compared to what the car is capable of.
Unmodified car with traction/stability control fully disabled, OEM Goodyear Supercar 3 tires (2017 date code old stock from Tire Rack) with only 1 track day on them before this event, track alignment with strut mod for some extra front camber (camber: -2.8° front, -1.4° rear, toe: 0° front, +0.05° rear per side [+0.10° total rear toe]), StopTech STR 600 DOT 4 brake fluid, stock Brembo (Ferodo HP1000/1) brake pads, GM plastic track brake cooling deflectors, smaller GM metal brake dust / splash shields. The car is in track mode with touring steering mode. Ambient temperature was about 50°F with 46% humidity...likely very optimal conditions for fast laps.
Three laps later in this session I had another lap that was 0.66 seconds faster than this one up until I messed up diamond's edge causing me to lose 0.82 seconds from the beginning of the back straight to the end of the front straight. That lap ended up being a 1:44.18 with the mistake. I was not able to manage any more 1:43 laps during the next two sessions; the ambient temperature going up to 58°F probably didn't help.
