Ride along for three fast laps in the #512 TTD Mazda RX-8 at the October 2017 NASA Mid Atlantic "Octoberfast" event at Virginia International Raceway (VIR). The best lap was a 2:10:96.
LESSONS LEARNED:
- Car can brake deeper on Hawk DTC-60 pads all around versus using Hawk HP+ on the rear
- Car is faster and easier to drive with the rear swaybar disconnected (although it costs 2 points in TT)
- 245 width Hoosier R7 are too wide for time attack because they take at least 4 laps to get up to optimal temperature. I would be better served with a narrower tire that will come up to temperature more quickly.
NASA Time Trial is a time attack style event where the fastest time of the day is counted.
Data was captured with an android phone running RaceChrono and an external Garmin Glo 10Hz GPS. The video and telemetry data was merged using Dashware.
