I was finally able to do a suspension and brake shakedown PB of 2:05.4 (starts at around 2:33) at Buttonwillow Raceway 13 CW w/ ambient temp of 80+ degrees F this past Saturday. I registered for the intermediate group but they placed me in the beg/inter purple group since it's only my second time at this track and on this track config. I only got one good lap in each of the three sessions I ran, which was right after the warm-up/full course yellow outlap. Could have shaved a second or two with more laps, but it was like LA traffic. At least I was able to put down somewhat of a decent lap this time around unlike earlier this year where I couldn’t even get a proper lap for my solo run (w/o my instructor) due to traffic and yellow flags almost every lap from people going off and getting stuck in the mud. Realized the organizers never even gave the cars I was lapping any blue flags either in all three of my three sessions throughout the day. Also on cold tires and tires rolling over a bit. Anyways, going to ask to be moved up to the Black group next year!
I think I now know where I can find more time/speed, what gear to be in certain corners next time, and where to brake harder or lighter. Still made some mistakes here and there. Just needed more laps to figure it all out. Overall it was a fun day as I was there with a bunch of good friends which made it all the more worth it…even if I barely got 10-12 laps, which includes warm up and cool down lap, for the entire day. LOL...CRIES (ㅠ_ㅠ)
Oh and feedback on where/how to improve my time is always appreciated! Thanks!
