The Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) is a state-of-the-art technical education institution operating 2-year instructional programs in a wide variety of subjects such as Business and Information Systems, Health and Human Services, or the Transportation sector, to name a few. The DCTC campus stands in Rosemount, Minnesota, less than 30 minutes away from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area. As a part of their customized education programs targeted to the transportation sector, the DCTC offers a Decision Driving Range (DDR) designed to provide elementary and advanced training for public institutions and private individuals interested in learning defensive driving, high-performance maneuvering, and control of every type of vehicle under stressing situations.
The DCTC DDR offers a wet skidpad and areas for defensive driving, evasive maneuvering instruction, and serpentine driving. The complex also includes a 1.5-mile (2.41-km) road course combining all these facilities, available for racing and driver training according to the college regulations. Local racing clubs and associations have the opportunity of renting the track for their events, taking advantage of DCTC's top-notch infrastructure for developing the skills of the aspiring racers and the pure enjoyment of the experienced ones. High-performance race cars travel the 15 turns of the DCTC road course in an average lap time of 1:15.5, with an average speed of 71 mph (114 km/h).
