If breakin' parts is cool, consider me Miles Davis.
No crowds were harmed in the making of this video. Although, I was trying to get into Kunal's head if he glanced back as I cross the finish. Maybe it worked, maybe it didn't, I'd end up catching up to him halfway through the next lap, but decided to pit early as the tires just didn't have grip.
#mistakesweremade
This was on the 17th heat cycle for my track-only Yokohama Advan A052 tire, which through those mistakes almost pulled off a 1:48, transponder said 1:49:088. I slowed a touch and the ZL1 1LE was nice enough to move off and let me take the line, into 3/4, and you can see the grip is gone as I took 6 wide, and that thump is the turn exit cone I thumped. I pumped my fist because I glanced up, and like a bowling pin, it wobbled and somehow managed to still remain standing, albeit about 6 feet further inside. That lack of grip came back to bite me as I also sailed wide for turn 9, and the usual playground section had big water puddles from Friday/Saturday rains, so the usual sweeping, wide turn was reduced to a much sharper left with less runoff.
Also, don't take the Track Addict speed/g-load seriously. The GPS coverage is pretty spotty at times at Auto Club, and those astute amongst you will notice that it says every turn is a right turn. Also has to do with me putting it in the secret owner's manual compartment for the 2018 Ford Mustang GT, and it now has no idea which way is up.
